Message >>Enough!!
When people post a message to a MESSAGE forum, it costs you nothing to view or delete it.<<

And if the message is deleted without explanation that the answer could easily have been found through search, they post it again, as well as posting a question asking why (or bitching about why) their original post was deleted.

>>Yelling "Use search!" is incredibily effective and establishes your reputation as a Z guru that dispenses justice as well as knowledge.<<

Well, I see that you have mastered the lost art of sarcasm. You will fit in just fine here, trust me.

>>You were there once (gosh, I've read the archives, everyone has a newbie post)<<

Indeed, and then we learned to use search.

>>and you are guilty of as much clutter as you accuse the poor schmuck who is sending a misguided message.<<

In some cases, it is not so much about clutter as it is about the difference between giving a man a fish or teaching him to fish. Feed him for a day, or let him feed himself indefinitely?

>>If you send a flamer post, you better have a damn good reason for it, if you're just tired of other people asking questions at a stage you were at, I humbly advise you to shut the @$#% up.<<

I agree that people could stand to be a bit more friendly and empathetic around here, but the world is not always a nice place, and neither is the internet. Sometimes people are just having a bad day and take it out on others. It seems that you yourself are not exempt from getting frustrated and posting an anger inspired message, no?

>>As for some content to this post, I have found pouring rice (long-grained) into the intake actually improves cooking times for pilaf and allows jealous Honda owners to question the fluffiness and fiber content of your entree.<<

>>Oh, and for Yugo-Bernie, the new TT kicks ass,<<

Indeed it does.

Also, just for your reference. A quick search reveals that the basic question of "what is the best exhaust?" has been posted as recently as the 20th, the 17th, the 14th, and so on and so forth.

The question gets asked approximately every 3 days. The answers never change, and search reveals that it all comes down to opinion anyhow. Search will also reveal differences in various exhaust systems, allowing for a person to form their own opinion, rather than have a billion people tell them to "Get Hiper" or "Get B&B" etc.

It is not that I think that the reply of "use search" is justified for every situation, but in all seriousness, it really needs to be pounded in sometimes. A large part of what this forum is about is to "boost your knowledge." This can be done much more effectively if one learns how to search.

I have been told to use search in the past, and rather than get offended and pissy about it, I actually used search. And in cases where I used search and was not able to find the answer I needed, I have recieved helpful suggestions or tips as to what exactly to look for when searching.

Perhaps when someone is told to use search, if they do not find the answer, they could reply with "how should I go about my search?" This way, the next time they use search, they may have learned new techniques or tricks and can save themselves and others time and effort.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking though.
