| There has been a lot of discussion lately about using stock recirc valves as BOVs. Apparently the idea is that if the return hose is disconnected and allowed to "vent" to the atmosphere you will get the distinctive PHSSSSSSH sound of the BOV. DO NOT DO THIS !!!!!! The valve is open under idle and light throttle conditions which allows air to be sucked into the valve from the vent side. Also, since the air is not being metered through the MAS, idle problems can an most likely will exist too. The only way to make the stock recirc behave like a BOV is to put a stronger spring in it that keeps the valve closed until a pressure differential of at least 13 psi. The stock one opens with a differential of only 2.5 psi. Then you can vent the outlet to the atmosphere because there is no way the valve will open and allow a reverse flow. Any one interested in converting their stock recircs, see my add in the classifieds. BD
