Message Listen, the reason people don't "know" to search or read the FAQ, is because they don't read the FIRST PAGE that pops up when you sign up for this site. It tells you to use the search function and read the FAQ before posing a question to the forum. If a newbie skips that and asks "What are these super cool suction cups I found behind my seat?!?!" then it is his fault for not reading what he is supposed to. He will get hammered.

When I joined this site, I posted asking for a someone that could check my car out in my area and that was it. I watched and read the forum for about a month, month and a half before actuaslly posting. Why? Because I had no idea WTF I was talking about and I was learning. I used the search and FAQ to find things out. I read the forum to see how things worked. I wasn't just going to come into someone else's house and act like I own the place.

Thats the problem with newbie's now. They come in and think they are big stuff. Then they get hamered and realize they are the new guy and they aren't quite so tough. And if they continue to be a dumbass, they will leave.

It's either that or they expect a handout. It's one thing to post some question and get a mix of flames and direction to use search and FAQ. But it's open season when that person does not take that advice, learn from it, and comes back with another, vague, thoughtless, un-researched question....time and time again.

It also depends on how the question is asked. If the person asks the question in a somewhat in formed manner, ie, it's obvious he put some effort into using this vast resource we call the internet, then we will be much more inclined to help him. How can we help someone who doesn't help help himself? It's the whole "feed a man a fish" thing.

And what it comes down too, is that people are just too damn sensitive. Take De_JaVu for example. He got rocked last night for putting strobes on his Z. He took them off today. But apparently we hurt his feelings. WTF?? Some guys you have never met in various states across the country make fun of you for something you did to your car, and your feelings are hurt? Give me a break and come back when you grow some balls. I'm sure he's a nice kid, but he needs to grow a spine. And I only use him because he is the most recent example I can think of.

More and more young kids can afford these cars now. Does that mean we have to like the fact that they want to rice them out and that they don't have the patience to search? No. Is it our fault that these kids are hand fed everything in their lives and don't know how to look for stuff for themselves? No. They need to get ready for reality, this world is not about handouts, you have to learn to fend for yourself. Might as well get a dose of reality here.

Bottom line, sure, we may turn some people off. but this is still the best Z32 site on the planet and I learn something new here every day. If you don't want to take the time to figure out how the site works, then don't expect us to take the time to spoon feed you answers to "where is my air filter?"

And I still don't believe you have a Z.
