I was having a discussion last night with some previous TT members about how effecient and friendly the site used to be as opposed to now. A good friend of mine, whose Z was one of the main reason I started tinkering with mine, discussed how he feels the site has taken a unfriendly downward spiral. This person is a well respected nissan mechanic, and is one of the most insightfull individuals I know. He noted that he seen numerous posts from newer Z owners asking legitimate questions that just get shot down. He felt the site looses a lot of NEW intrest due to people being rude and sarcastic. Along with that, he also notes that there is a lot mis-information throughout the site about general issues. A discussion began him, myself and a few other nissan & import owners. Some others began to pitch in their 2 cents about how, unless you have been there for a while, you just get made fun of. I never thought that people weren't getting the full potential of the site till I had this conversation. I informed them that everything you need to know is basically in search and the FAQ, otherwise everything is jus goofing off and not to take it so seriously. They replied with...."how would a new person know" and I began to ponder. It is true some people get very intimidated by this site, fancy sigs and egos bouncing around. I realize a lot of us have been here for a while and are tired of hearing "which exhaust should I get?" or "How do I convert a NA to TT?", but that is what we are here for.... information. When we aren't giving that, is that helpful to everyone? Sorry about the bitching, it just made me angry to think that people who had a love for a car can't get the help they are looking for because they asked a question that has been asked a thousand times before. I remember when I got my car and all I heard from people was "those cars are money pits and you'll never get it fixed up" or "dude, buy a honda". That irritates me to think that someone in my original position (1.5yrs ago) is going through all that like I did. I thank some of the people on the site for all the help they gave me back then, but mostly to some local Z guys that helped me a WHOLE HELL of a lot. I am guilty, very rarely, of flaming some people but I guess I will rethink the next time the horns pop out of my head and my ego swells. I would also like to thank all those people that gave me information in my earlier days and helped me a lot and to the site admin for the hard work in the last year. On a personal note, now that things are coming together for my car I will be sending out a lot of thank you's to all those who helped.
