Message First, Mitsu doesn't refer to turbine housings as "TD0anything". They are 6cm2, 7cm2, etc... The confusing part is the names vs. the description. Let's take a look at the common EVOIII turbo, commonly called a TD05H-16G. To accurately describe this turbo, however, you must state the compressor housing (TD05), the compressor wheel (16G), the center section (TD05), the turbine housing (7cm2), and the turbine wheel (TD05H). Just because a particular turbine housing is part of a named 'packaged' turbo, doesn't mean it adopts that name.

Further, we see that although the 'A' is described in the turbine housing name, the 'R' is not. It IS apparent, though, that the 'R' also increases with each increase in 'A'(It's been measured). So, we have an increase in 'A', an apparent increase in 'R', and yet still have an increase in A/R ratio (again, it's been measured). This yields bigger and bigger turbine housings with each step up. Mitsu has much less variety than Garret. Isn't this what Garret devouts trumpet constantly?

The only thing that bothers me with the equation, is that someone may try to compare a mitsu A/R with a Garret from whichever family. It's simply not possible. Garret has too many combinations like 5 turbine housing sizes in 5 families or some such, whereas, Mitsu is more 'small, medium, and large'...period. However, the formula does prove true, because they've been physically measured as proof.

I think this thread is failing, so feel free to email me, David.
