Message The ECU is monitoring the O2's at a much higher rate than 5 times in 10 seconds. You are thinking about what the service manual says about OBD mode II for O2 sensor testing where it shows that you should see the light blink ~5 times in 10 seconds, where actaully the number is 5 times in two seconds if I'm not mistaken. The ECU monitors the O2's at a much higher rate. Anyone with a ConZult will be able to tell you that for all practical purposes, it is in real-time. I have datalogging of the O2's with several thousand points of data in a second. I suspect it probably is around 2K samples/second.

The reason it took a few minutes for your A/F to get normalized was not because of the sampling rate or anything to do with the ECU. It has to do with the sensor itself. It must come up to operating temperature before it gets a proper reading. There are other factors that could have kept the A/F from being right as well. I'm not sure why you replaced your O2's, but I suspect it was because they were dead. If you reset the ECU after doing this, there will be a degree of learning it has to go through to be correct. It has nothing to do with the sampling rate of the ECU.

These aftermarket ECU's are nice solely for the fact that they give the end user the control. Only problem is the cost associated with going that route. I've been arguing my point about the speed of the system primarily because the Zemulator relies on the stock ECU's circuitry. All the Zemulator does is give the control over to the user, just like a standalone engine management system. I have been feeling like your argument is in some way trying to discount the stock ECU's ability to do its job with overtones relating to the Zem.

A good friend of mine, who is also an ASE certified Master Tech, been in the business for 20+ years, etc etc, was telling me about an argument him and his new woman got into over the issue of tire pressure. I dont recall the specifics of the argument, but we both found it humorous that she was attempting to argue a point with someone who was well over her in the understanding of the topic at hand.
