Message ...I think you hit upon a good point, and that is that what you stated was your thought and opinion. My opinion is that a lot of mods are talked up to be "to die for" and "must-haves", usually because they are on Supras or something unreasonable like that.

With regards to what I said, sure, there are hoods that have vents back there, but they probably are also on cars designed to use those vents, with some sort of ducting, etc. If you just stick a rear-vented hood on a car that is not designed for it, I think you'd probably being doing more harm than good, and real racers have had that experience.

For discussions sake, I might suggest that you grab an auto aerodynamics book of some sort and read - I recently got a nice one at Barnes and Noble, I think called "Race Car Aerodynamics." It states that passenger style cars have high pressure areas at the base of the windshield that will extend out onto the hood for some distance. I also listed the example of the cowl-induction hood to illustrate that the effect is real.

In short, I'm awfully critical of expensive body components, due to the fact that I think their benefit is mostly for show purposes, and there isn't much to prove that they improve performance.
