I don't know what it is about import mags, but they seem to be more concerned about the brand of parts than the reason if you need them or not. I think the sponsors have too much pull in those magazines and objectivity takes a major hit.
The thing that disappoints me about these articles is that the branding of the parts is pushed to the forefront while the need or function of the part is conveniently overlooked. I've read quite a few articles where they list the brand of every "performance part" on the engine but the HP and TQ output is left out as if they were irrelevant trivia. I think reason and objectivity take a back seat to hype and branding in most of these articles. Instead of what focusing on what counts, they focus on meaningless minutiae.
