Message inside of the valve covers (where there should be a gasket, but there is just a bead of sealant), but we cleaned them with brake cleaner really well, so I would be surprised if something survived that but then 'fell off' when we put them back on. The size of the piece of aluminum is also probably too large to have come from the valve covers. It could have come from the inside of the plenum I guess - maybe where the casting balled up at a joint somewhere, but it would seem odd that it hadn't come off until now.

Actually, the plenum had never been removed before, so it is feasible that by removing it and moving it around a lot, there could have been something lodged somewhere from manufacture that dislodged itself through the process. I had considered that before, but not seriously. I guess I'll have to really take a close look at it and see if there are any visible signs on the inside of the plenum.

We will also be taking the intercoolers off and checking the entire intake tract out, so hopefully my concerns are somewhat of an overreaction, but given this process is costing several thousand dollars, I really don't think I could stand it again. Heck, just being without the Z for 2 weeks is killing me!
