Message I am an anti-lag whore. Every engine mod I've done was to reduce the amount of lag due to the type of racing that I do. Dual pop, ported exhaust manifolds, small turbo upgrade, downpipes, test pipes and Hipers. Everything was bought with the intent to keep the lag down. I decided on the Hiper for 2 main reasons. 1. Cost and 2. Functionality. Asthetics did not come into play nor did construction material. The Hipers had the biggest piping at 65mm compared to all the other Japanese manufacturer's exhausts (Greddy PE, SP and HKS sport) which were only 60mm piping. 2.55" vs 2.36" Not only that they were the straightest out there with only 1 bend, again going back to my hatred of turbo lag. I had originally wanted the B&B mainly due to asthetics but when I heard them in person I was immediately turned off by the noise. At low RPMs it was annoyingly resonant and my car is uncomfortable enough without the exhaust blaring when I'm just trying to cruise down the highway. Surprisingly, though, at the track event I went to the B&Bs were one of the most quiet from the spectator stands while the Hipers that were on another Z I could hear coming out of the last turn before I even saw the car on the main straights. So, I've decided not to 'upgrade' to the B&B and keep the Hipers for a while longer. At least until something better comes out.
