Message : Its true to decrease understeer one thing to be done is to increase one tire size on the rear, effectivily raising the rear end more allowing more dominating weight transfer to the front which inturn can help traction in.

If you buy correct size rubber for 18" rim, the diameter of whole wheel is not bigger than stock. So the car doesnt sit higher.

I'd say that lower profile tire that's needed in the rear with bigger rim makes the rear stiffer and thus produces more oversteer.

I would agree about looks though. When looking at a Z, the rear tire always "looks" smaller than front tire, if they are same size. So i guess that 17" - 18" setup would look more balanced than 17" or 18" all around.
