so I wouldn't be surprised that there would be jail time and a criminal record involved if someone got his plates (regardless of injuries). The only advice I can think of would be to abandon the pickup in some remote area (very soon) and report it to have been stolen before the accident happened. It's shitty advice, he could end up in even more trouble than he already is in, but it's all I can think of to get him off the hook.
