get your shifter back and give him his money back. Sounds like the guy doesn't have his priorities in line and is trying to get out of the transaction. It's not worth the small cost of the shifter to fight it and make a big deal out of it, IMO. You are right in this instance and he should know that. Hell, charge him a resticking fee. But I would just do whatever it takes to end it quickly, because fighting it will be futile.
