Message I did TONS of research before I bought my JDM. You can very easily find a good condition JDM engine with about 30K miles on it and a 3 month unlimited mileage warranty for about $2300 or less, shipped to your door.
Ive put about 1,000 miles on my JDM as of now, and it runs better than the US engine I had. The JDM has a less agressive cam, and the slightly smaller auto. turbos. Despite these differences, they still have plenty of power, and I as well as a few other JDM guys will attest to that.
Replacement issues arent much of an issue either: Youll have to switch your balance tube, and the oil sender unit bolts to a different place, but the wiring harness should work perfectly fine, and there are no other mounting problems to deal with. You also may have to deal with the EGR equipment. There is a black connector that goes into the EGR on the back of the engine. The JSpec engines dont sem to have the connection, but fortunately, unless you have a Calif. ECU, you wont even get a check engine light if you mjust leave the connector hanging. If you realyl want you cna switch over the EGR stuff from your old motor, but its not necessary...

Hope this helps a bit, feel free to contact me if you want more info
