Message I've read a few different posts and I just wanted to make sure that people don't think that I am unhappy with DSP. I think the overall experience could have been a BIT better, but given various circumstances, it has all worked out.

1. Gyro DID tell me these things would lag. I never led anybody to believe that I was blindsided, because I wasn't. I *DID* expect the lag to be a little less severe than it is, but I will continue to modify and see if it gets better.

2. The turbos are kicking ass. They pull very strong and I'm only running 1.1bar right now on stock intercoolers w/ single pop and gutted precats. They are everything they were advertised as (as far as I can tell) and the price was great. The dyno seems to have been a little low (@ 366rwhp, 15.5psi), probably more because my expectations were set too high than anything, but after some modifications so far (colder air, lower humidity, and regapping spark plugs) it is already a lot stronger than during the dyno. I can tell that I just have some tuning to do. The T-28's definitely appear to be able to handle the load.

3. I did get ported manifolds but was advised by the shop when they were received that there was a lip on one of the ports that had a 50/50 chance of causing an exhaust leak. If they put them on and a leak did occur, I would have been responsible for ALL labor to fix it. I chose to NOT tempt fate and am working with Gyro to get them sent back and get a refund. I have no use for them now even if repaired as I don't have a desire to pull then engine again to put them on.

4. The turbos did take quite a while to get here, but my order was placed during the time that Florida was deluged with floods and Gyro & co. had a lot of other things on their minds. Perfectly reasonable.
I also discovered after getting ahold of Gyro that he got the turbos back and they had not been clipped, so he caught that, sent them back to the turbo guy and had them reworked again which cost another week.

5. For a week or so it was intensely difficult to get ahold of Gyro (read: I couldn't). Again this was during the floods, etc. If I had any customer comment on this facet of their business, it would be that they should invest in a business phone system and have somebody there to answer it. It seems that their business is getting big enough to warrant that, but what do I know? :-)

As a counterpoint to that, whenever I DID get Gyro on the phone or on ICQ, he was always VERY helpful and answered ALL of my questions as well as just chatting for a while. He never acts like he's rushed to get off the phone when you call him and pays attention to what you have to say and makes sure he answers any questions you may have. I *REALLY* like that. :-)

6. The passenger side turbo was discovered to have been 'clocked' incorrectly when it was on the car. This cost me about 5 hours of labor by the dealer to pull the turbo again, reclock it, and reattach it. (Clocking means that the hot and cold side of the turbo housing can be loosened and twisted... like a rubik's cube... to line up the head side ports and the exhaust port correctly. I was led to believe by the shop that this should have been done by the turbo rebuilder, but wasn't. I don't know any more than that, so I leave it as it stands.

7. The only thing that I would consider a real *NEGATIVE* in the entire process was a miscommunication on when the turbos would be delivered. He told me on a Saturday that they would be sent out on Monday or Tuesday. Therefore they should have been at the shop by Friday at the latest. When the shop called on Friday and I called Gyro, he said he was in the process of porting the manifolds and would get them shipped out the following week (they arrived that next Friday). I was disappointed because I had been told they WOULD be shipped and then there was no phone call to advise me any differently. In the grand scheme of things that's not really a big deal, but still a negative point on customer service.

OK, this is long enough. In summation,
I would recommend Gyro and DSP Racing to anyone who needs turbos or other parts that they sell.

They delivered what I asked for (except the manifolds), the performance is great, and the price is unbeatable.

I think they could shore up customer service a little, but that's to be expected when a shop grows as rapidly as they have. Plus, he makes up for it with the advice and answers he gives when you actually can get him on the phone :-)
