I searched long and hard for a particular item. I wanted it really badly and would stop at nothing to find one. I searched high. Then I searched low. I searched left. And right after that, I searched right. FINALLY, I found someone who had what I wanted and was willing to sell it to me for an UNBELIEVABLY low price. I could barely contain my excitement. FINALLY I had found the navy blue with orange polka dot shoelace to match the one I had lost while running from a rabid dog in the woods on a snowy day in the middle of June. The lace had gotten caught on a log and almost lead to my untimely demise. But, I thought quickly and left my shoe behind, along with one of my two favorite shoelaces EVER. I went to look for it the next day, but it was gone. I fear the dog took it home for a trophy. And as he was a rabid dog, I did not dare go search him out. So years later, I finally find another shoelace, just like the one I lost. Someone was selling one on the internet! Not a pair, just one. But that is OK, because I still have the other one of mine in a safe deposit box at a bank that shall remain nameless. So I email the seller and he says he can send it the next day!! I am so excited! So I send him my $80 via PayPal. I was so excited! I couldn't sleep for the next 4 days while waiting for my shoelace to arrive. And I nearly broke the UPS man's spine when I tore the doors off the back of his truck and he fell out. After he came to and promised not to sue my, I signed for my package and gave him a glass of water for his trouble. I let him keep the glass because he was nice. I ran inside and slowly untaped the package as not to disturb the contents. The moment had arrived...my shoelace was here! I pulled out the bubble wrap and proceeded to pop each bubble, because that is fun. Then I pulled out the vaccum sealed pouch I had requested the shoelace be sent in. I carefully cut open the pouch and reached inside to get my treasure. I closed my eyes so I could prolong the anticipation for just one more second. I pulled out the lace and the smile on my face spread from sea to shining sea! As I slowly opened my eyes to behold the end to my quest, the smile fell off my face and rolled under the couch. I could not believe what I held in my hand. It was a mostly white shoelace, with traces of navy blue, and no sign of orange. I could have jumped off my house at that point...but I didn't have a ladder. So I frantically emailed my next door neighbor and asked why he had sent me a white shoelace instead of the navy with orange polka dots one he had advertised on the internet. I was so mad, yet, sad at the smae time. He didn't email me back in 10 seconds so I decided to go knock on his door. He explained that while he was washing the shoelace by hand wearing rubber gloves (per my request) he accidentally spilled Clorox on it and bleached the whole thing. I crumpled to the ground in a heap. I could not believe it. All that effort and my quest was about to start over. I thanked him for being honest and went home. I can't believe I got screwed over the internet. I was at a loss. So I went to the store and bought a pair of navy blue and orange polka dot shoelaces to cheer myself up. And as I laced my shoes, I thought to myself, "Never will I trust another internet shoelace seller again." I put my shoes on and went for a walk. As I rounded the corner of Main St. and Main St. I saw the dog that had robbed me of my lace only one week before. I ran. He chased. My shoelace got caught on a pebble in the road and I went down. I had to take off my shoe to get away. I bet that dog loves me because I keep giving him shoes to chew on. but now I have two single navy with orange polka dot shoelaces to find mates for. But I can tell you this, I will NOT look on the internet for them. Lots of scammers out there. Wish me luck. How was that, Gambler? :-)
