Message Well, let me share my experience that took, oh, about 4 years.

First, you get yourself a 1996 TTZ, they're just plain faster! J/K. Any well maintained Z will do. But if you really want to run quick, get a 96. :) And, that OBDII thing with the lack of Variable Valve Timing, don't waste my time with that issue. It had no effect on top end horse power ratings, period!

Now, get yourself the basics, an air filter and an exhaust. I used a K&N filter and a Greddy PE Exhaust. Then, move on to some testpipes, and downpipes. Now, it's a must that you get Greg Dupree's split downpipes. They make the turbos spool about 400-500 rpm quicker but, most importantly they broaden the powerband. Not to mention smooth it out, which is much better when it come to getting traction. Before getting those downpipes, the turbos would pause a bit then come blasting into boost. Needless to say, I'd lose traction. Well, that does it for the exhaust

Now onto to the fuel system. Don't touch a darn thing. Just run all the 91 octane gas(California) out of there and put in about an 1/8 of a tank of 100 octane race gas. Let me repeat this, no injectors, fuel pumps, AFC's and you don't even need an ECU tuned by JWT. Nothing! Was I clear? Remember, this is for stock turbos.

Now, here's one of my tricks for getting fuel into the cylinders. I run #6 NA plugs. They are a bit shorter allowing for more fuel to blow by the spark plug. I once ran the regular extended tip Turbo plugs and the car began to ping a lot easier. So, I just stayed with the shorter ones.

Get some intercoolers. I used Greddy's, but any will do, I'm sure. Also get that underdrive pully. It free's up about 10-15 ponies from what I hear.

Then get yourself a boost controller. Don't care what kind, just get one that will let you run about 20 psi. Cuz that what it takes to get down that 1/4 mile in a hurry.

Now that you have all this power, it's time to get that sucker hooked to the pavement! I reccommend a set of Micky Thompson ET Streets. Preferably 26 x 10 x 15. For those who aren't familar with this kind of tire, it's 26 inches tall, 10 inches wide running on a 15 inch rim. I ran my 11 sec pass running only 13 psi in the tires. Hey they gotta stick. Then I used a set of Greg Dupree's Sub Frame Spacers. They help minimize the subframe from moving under the car and reduce the tendency of wheel hop. Therby giving you better traction.

Now there's all the little things you'll need like a boost guage to see what boost you're running and maybe some blow off valves but basically, you've got everything as far as tools to run that 11 sec pass. You'll also have to stip out some stuff in the car. The spare tire, jack, passenger seat etc. Hey, lighter is faster. I weighed in at 3500 lbs. on my 11 sec pass.

Now just learn how to peddle that sucker for a good 60 foot time. I slip the clutch in quickly at about 6000 rpm for my 1.7 short times. Then don't miss any gears and keep it straight and get it down the track one piece. Here's a tip, don't be gentle on the tranny. Slow shifts = slow times. Just so you know, I'm on my 3rd tranny! And, I haven't backed off on it yet.

Like Orion says, "Drive it like you stole it."

Good luck.
