Message 1. ANY modifications to safety equipment is not allowed
2. The diffuser you install after pulling out the stock colored parts does not dissipate light nearly as well. The stock lenses have circular partern inlaying into the small square checks to help w. this.
3. red bulbs do not illuminate the way a red lens does - they look like hot spots vs. the correct red "bar"

Bottom line is this, if you want to do and comprimise saftey designes on your car, they by all means go ahead. But no matter how you want to justify it, it is NOT legal to do. The DOT regs are very clear and simple on this matter.
