it so posting a slip (which I haven't scanned) would be moot. It ran 12.70's with a 1.9s 60' and 110mph through the traps. Negative as I may sound sometimes, the fact is spending $1000 on an exhaust (not to mention the bloated prices on most other aftermarket components) is just bound for ridicule to people who know the value of such a product. Its the 'aftermarket' word that makes things expensive. The same reason that most people here would probably agree that $5000 for a watch is overkill, I also think that $1000 for an exhaust is as well. It may sound negative, but the truth is just that. That 12s pass was done with a $400 midas special, but custom designed by myself - they just have the benders, cutters and weders, as well as a lift, that I do not have - else I'da built that myself as well - and I did it inexpensively without plunking $1000 on it. I remember when I bought this car and picked up a stillen catalog which doesn't have pricing in it. I saw the body kits, exhaust systems, ECU's, Cams, all that cool stuff they sell and I had about $1500 to blow. When I called and found that $1500 would only carry me to one of those items or two of the smaller ones the reaction has never left me. Its a racquet, no matter how you slice it. I came to the cold hard conclusion that aftermarket stuff for the Z (as well as many other imports) is ridiculously overpriced. You could buy a full set of forged pistons for a 350V8 for ~$400. Cams are dirt cheap, exhaust is cheap, everything for the domestic market is well priced in comparison. I vowed to set the bar a long time ago after that experience - they've all got rocks in their heads and I can build it just as good if not better at a fraction of the cost. They aint got shit on me. :) Perhaps this last paragraph puts my attitudes about these things into perspective a little more.. Of course I get offended when someone challenges something that I have built and proven it is just as good as an overpriced aftermarket counterpart. I made it inexpensively - there's everything good with that. My engine failed because of a very minor mistake, not because I made my own BOVs, or my exhaust, or reprogrammed my ECU myself, or converted an NA engine to TT, or any of the things I have built myself. It was a very simple assembly mistake. Kindof ironic, dont you think? :) I admit about that exhaust post the guy made, he had already purchased it and he's not going to take it back and go a different route, or the route I went just because I said it was overpriced... I should have just let it slip by and not said anything and he would probably have felt better about his purchase. I was wrong to say that.. : so what? So you made a mistake on your injector so what! I have over 20,000 mile on my motor w/ UD and it still runs great so what does it prove? There is not enough people here on TT.net that have had a problem with there UD pulley to say stay away. We have more people that have blown engines because of boost controllers can we say that BC's are bad?? : You ask why I say anything to you it is because your always so negative to people that don't follow your ways and that is a uncool. I remember one of your first reply's when some guy bought a Greddy exhaust and while other congratulated him you were the only guy that told him he wasted his money because you could have a Midas exhaust system for way cheaper. (This is a true story and he was serious) And in typical Ash way your being negative to Jezefink. : BTW if you can prove your 12.70 with a time slip good going!
