Yes, packages still get lost and stolen in this golden age of technology. About an average of two packages out of every hundred in my expericence(I've mailed out thousands of items). Delivery confirmation is pretty useless because they just scan the stupid thing before they drop it off(and yes postman are not suppose to leave packages lying around but 50% of them do). They can still deliver it to the wrong address and the item can still be stolen after they leave it somewhere. I suggest you go bitch at your local post office some more. If that doesn't work then you have a choice to make. Eat the loses or keep the guys money because he's an cheap idiot. However you will probably get negative feedback and there is a small chance you'll get taken to small claims court. Especially if you live in the same state.
