So, this year, for some reason, I have to go to a test only station (usually reserved for gross polluters) even though my Z has always passed with flying colors. So I go, and here's my results: HydroCarbons PPM 15 mph Result: 0 Max 135 Average: 30 25 mph Result: 0 Max 85 Average: 12 Carbon Monoxide (percent) 15 mph Result: 0.02 Max 0.71 Average: 0.14 25 mph Result: 0.01 Max 0.59 Average: 0.07 Nitrous Monoxide (PPM) 15 mph Result: 15 Max 1465 Average: 206 25 mph Result: 2 Max 1265 Average: 194 Note the maximum values are the max allowed, and the averages are the averages for all passing cars. So it looks like my Z passed with flying colors once again, right? Wrong! Well, almost wrong. The techs spent 30 minutes tracing vacuum lines and quizzing me about the extra lines from my HKS EVC IV boost controller. Then, they quizzed me about my K&N cone filter, even though I have the sticker with the exemption order numbers sitting there, right by it, stating that yes, it is LEGAL in the state of Kaliforn, I mean California. Finally, they reluctantly passed me. Come on, my car is 10 years old, and puts out less smog than many new cars, and yet I almost didn't pass!!! Sometimes, even though I love living in San Diego, I hate California. Dave 90TT
