Message If a turbo produces say 20psi of boost at sea level at 150K rpm. The higher altitude , where the air is less dense requires the turbo to spin higher rpms to attain the same boost pressure. This means that the turbo could be outside it's effeciency range because of the beating of the air in the compressor. In other words, the turbos are working harder to reach the same boost pressure.
