My stoicism towards Iraqis dying stemmed from them hating us. I'm sorry - but I don't "love my enemy" and I will not waste my feelings or tears on someone who would kill me if they could. I understand not all arabs hate us - but the majority do (the ones actually in the middle east - Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, etc). It sucks they hate us so much - but its their hate, not mine. I choose not to care if people that hate me die, but I certainly do NOT condone the killing of those people(as some of the arabs paraded and cheered when 9/11 happened). Do I feel someone should help the Iraqis? YES! Should Saddam be removed? YES! And to the power thing - I think the US has done a superb job of managing the power that we do have. We could easily have become Naziesque or reinvented manifest destiny - but we didn't. You cannot expect our government not to act in its own interests - that would be folly to demand otherwise. We are the greatest country because we look out for #1.
What kind of drunk are you?
