post. I was thinking about the F1 races I watched this weekend with their rotors getting red hot and thinking, how the hell do the pads hold onto that? Answer: metal pads. Apparently higher metal content in a pad makes it grab even under blistering conditions. Only problem is rotor wear. :) Its all a tradeoff anyway, get bigger rotors and your wallet suffers. :) : there was an article in the back of road and track or car and driver or wheel and brake or engine and tire magazines. : the magazine cover title was "10,000 HP shoot out"
: in the back of the magazine was a little bitty article about stock brakes, upgraded pads, and various BIG brake kits on a WRX. : the biggest surprise to me was for $100-150.oo worth of pad (Hawk HP), they were able to dramatically effect braking distances on a stock setup. : the HUGE brakes slowed the car down more, but when comparing money -versus- return on investment, just doing pads is a big bonus. : the magazine should still be in libraries as it was like the august edition.
