Dood, there should be no reasons why people should pay $80 to have an aluminum pipe welded to an aluminum radiator, period. I dont care where you live, that's a ripoff. Be it that someone paid that for the work, the welder made out quite well because it only took him ~10 from start to end (setup and cleanup). I'd be happy to take $480/hr anyday. Machinists, even the highest paid, do not make $480/hr. The math is simple. Call me a cheapskate?, whatever. I think its a simple matter of understanding what work is worth. Look at my hardpipes, look at my BOVs, look at my conversion, look at my brakes... look at my exhaust... I could go on and on... Everyone of these projects came at rock bottom prices and some even for free. Call me cheap? Whatever, I still have a 12s car. All of these DIY projects I carry on about to people is simply to show them that the aftermarket pricing schemas and strategies can be overcome and brutally beaten. : Others, expensive machinist- 2+ : Not scare tactic, do the math, because you can get it done cheap does not mean everyone can. You can even try to offend the ones that paid more than you, but that does not change the fact that that is how much it will cost for THEM. Are their machinists ripping themoff? Perhaps, but if it is that or nothing, many people pick ripped off. : If anyone is in Gainsville, I am sure that buying the $200 radiator will work out best, but for others, your costs DO NOT apply. : You are almost as bad as Warren Change, he bragged about how he bought 5+ low mileage Supra for ~$15k each. Will the average person get this deal, NO.
