Everyone was cool and just out for a good time. We had the 2 Vipers hanging with our group (don't know how they wound up in with Japanese cars, but they were cool). Those cars rocked in the mountains. Nothing like torque to rocket you through some tight twisties. I pretty much struggled through and brought up the rear. The Z just felt like it was loaded down. I don't think I kept the revs up enough to keep the boost up. I had fun, though, which is what counts. Like Carlos, I think I'll be moding the suspension. We hung out in Helen for a while after the drive with a couple of the Ferrari people and some other people from their group. One of the Ferraris had blown a radiator from sitting in traffic and they were waiting for the tow truck. Got a classic shot of 6 guys *pushing* a Ferrari from one parking spot to another to make room for a bus that was pulling in. I'll post it when the film gets developed. One of the guys asked, and I quote, "Does anyone have a Japanese car to give us a ride home in?". I was the only one who raised my hand. I don't think he knew I was driving a 300. The people were cool and we had a good time hanging out. Has anybody else checked out the [ www.panteraplace.com ] website that was sent out in an e-mail to everyone who registered on the website? Go to the site and click on "Atlanta activities" and scroll to the bottom. The guy has a little write-up about the mountain drive. I talked to the guy for a while and I'm actually in one of the pictures (See if you can guess which one. Not a good shot of me. I look pretty much like a complete dork.) I thought the guy was pretty cool, but seems I was wrong. Looks like he's a snobbish bastard. He's got some stuff at the end of his article talking about how some of the cars weren't driving appropriately or some such shit. He's implying that he didn't think some of the cars were "exotic" enough to be in with the rest of the cars and that it was these drivers who were being reckless. I hate to tell him, but I bet every person there, including the ones driving Ferraris and Porsches, took some liberties with traffic laws. What a prick. And get this, he was driving a 1st generation 300ZX turbo on the drive because his Pantera was being worked on. I'd encourage everyone who went on the drive to e-mail the organizers and tell them that they had a good time. I personally thought it was well organized and that most of the people were just out to have some fun. I'd hate to see the event reduced next year to just "exotics" (ever how you define that) because of some assholes. Peace out. Oh. Did I mention that I almost had to bail out of the drive because my dumb ass left the oil filler cap off after adding some oil the night before? We're getting off the interstate to regroup at a gas station and my car is smoking like a son of a bitch. I seriously thought that I was on fire. I make it to the gas station, pop the hood, and see oil all over the top of the intake manifold. Luckily I only lost about half a quart and a cool guy in an Eclipse GS-T had a quart of Mobil 1 synthetic with him that he let me use. Needless to say, I think my engine won't win any clean awards for long time and I'm going to be smelling burnt oil for a while. DavidM 95 Super Black TT
