Message Don't worry, I know it wasn't harsh! But about going the most expensive route...you're wrong. At least, when you consider WHY the swap is so much versus why getting another TT and swapping parts will end up being less. For one, I can get a nice TT for around $13K adn can swap almost ALL parts over. I've tabulated repurchasing all the parts and such and it's over $12,000 at least. If I swap it all over and part out the NA, I'll bring back another $4K easily on the parting out. So I've spent $13K - $4K = $9,000 to have a TT that looks great, runs fast and rocks. This is all ROUGH...

Now...different people have VERY different circumstances when it comes to what they can wait for. Ash...has another car, knows his shit, has the time to do the swap for dirt. I don't have months to mess with it. There are other shops here that have TRIED to do it that have botched them ALL. Greg has probably had to fix a half dozen in the last 2 years that were botched. That being said, having him do it wont be cheap. He will NOT install some unknown used motor, Jspec clip, etc. I don't blame him. So I'll need a new shortblock, the heads, I'd be putting new turbos on because I want that, new wiring harness, new transmission (NA can't take it for long), new computer chip, new exhaust pieces, intercoolers that I'd want new, piping to be made, hoses and a zillion other little things listed in the FAQ, etc.

Add in the labor and why can't you see it being $10K easy? If I do things I do them RIGHT. I'm not going to bargain basement used intercoolers, I want new ones and since new ones are more than Greddys, I'd get those. Follow the pattern. It's pointless ESPECIALLY when I want a change of pace, a different color car and a new platform to build on.
