: ....I've driven Miatas, *although not a modded one*, and they didn't seem stable at high speeds. : Now if you're talkin' autocross, sure the Miata will reign supreme, but high speed road-type work? I think the Miata is rather unstable, not to mention that it won't reach some of the speeds that the Z can reach. An example is the open-road-race stuff - a Miata handling well at 145mph? - fuhgetaboutit. : I guess the question should be qualified with the type of driving....... : RSR Spec Miatas aren't anything to brag about as far as speed but when the cars can take the turns 10 mph faster than the high hp vehicles and carry more speed out of the turn, some cars won't be able to catch up til the end of the straightaway. As far as high speed stability, my Miata feels more stable than the Z when I have the top up (adj coilover/shocks, adj sway bars, delrin bushings, subframe connectors front/rear, fstb, 4 point roll bar, heim joint sway bar end links, front lower chin spoiler, yada yada yada). For road racing, the two cars go about it in different ways. Some people prefer to have the advantage in the turns, others prefer to take it in the straightaway. If you want both, get a Z06 or RX7 :)
