Message Surf around and look at what other automotive communities are doing with OBD-II. Maybe it never dawned on anyone, but there are a LOT of sports cars which are '96 and newer (ALL OBD-II) which get modified without the need to do standalone engine management. (or cry on JWT's shoulder)

You will see the only real hinderance is the inability to run big lumpy cams on OBD-II cars because of the misfire detection. You really don't need any taller cams on a '96, the stock ones are a little on the tall side to begin with.

Big Injecors? Big Turbos? no problem. Go look at see what the OBD-II DSM people are doing, see what the OBD-II WRX people are doing. Obviously it takes a little more effort than just giving $500 to JWT and saying "make it go", but it CAN be done, and it IS being done.

The rule of thumb in those communities for doing MAF correction is 50% on the injectors. You can run 50% larger injectors and still be able to correct the airflow signal to get the car to do what you want. The DSM guys go from 440cc to 660cc and do the correction with an AFC. For a Z, 370cc to 555cc is exactly 50% as well.

Take a look at what they do in Australia for Z's. They don't run JWT ECUs, or reprogrammed ECUs. They run UNIchips, which are piggyback fuel/timing controllers. And they run big turbos and injectors.

You can get an e-manage now in the US, which can do all the fuel/timing correction you would ever want. Even if you can't 'fool' the sissy OBD-II ECU into dumping more fuel into the car by doing airflow correction, you can just buy the injector harness (an extra $35) and tap into the injector signals. Then you can push the injector duty cycle to whatever you want.

If you are worried about the boost cut, the e-manage is equipped to defeat that 'feature'.

C'mon people! Show some initiative!! :)
