Message move between the temperatures of 170-215 degrees. Once it reaches 215 the needle will then begin to move. THere is still voltage that is beign read throughout that 45 degree increment, but nonetheless, it doesn't really let you know til it's nearly overheating. That's what I gathered from seraching, but doesn't really help your situation I guess. Just a FYI:)
