Message I had a 92 accord, and loved it. Then i got my Celica. A year later my wife got a 90 accord. I hate driving the accord now, it is not that comfartable as the Celica/camry. And the engines/transmission/drivetrain on the toyotas are better. I have had the celica for 120K miles, and it had 160 when I got it. NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. Just Mobil1, 2 timing belts, and wash teh K&N. No leaks , no bad halfshafts, no seals busted, everything is original with 280K miles. Clutch is very soft and works way up, pedal is almost released to work. They told me 2-3 K miles when i got the car, and I will have to replace it. Well 120K miles later is still the original clutch. And i drive it crazy, too. Rotors were replaced just recently, and 270K, an dthey were the original ones. I think it is just impressive. I have several friends with Celicas, and they say the same thing. The accord, though, would show a leak here and there, the halfshafts wouylkd go out at like 120K on most cars, rotors at 120K. Accord is still good, but not that comfartable and expense-free compared to Celica/Camry.
And last week I raced a brand new Civic EX. The celica is 130HP, the civic is 130 or a bit more. Beat him bad. And I have a K&N only. Pretty good for a 280K mile engine. It does not use any oil, i loose about .8 quart every 3K miles. And that is Atlanta traffic.
I drive it every day at least 150 miles, a lot of times 250-300 miles a day.
Suspension has not changed siince i bought it. Original struts. That engine, 5S-FE, has been in celica from 90 to 99, an dcamry from 92 to 2001. They are really good.
Just tought that is some useful info. i think the new Celica GT-S is an excellent DD.
