...and have caught a couple places trying to sell a line of bullshit. One example is my ex's 90 NA - she sucked up water through the intake and blew the MAS. Dealer tried to charge her for having to vacuum water out of the intercoolers. The conversation was kinda like: Me - How much is it gonna be?
Dealer - $xxx (don't remember the figure)
M - What does that include?
D - New MAS, labor, checking over the engine bay for water damage, and vacuuming out the intercoolers.
M - Vacuuming the what?
D - The intercoolers - they help cool the turbo air.
M - I know what they are, why did you have to vacuum them?
D - Because they had water in them.
M - Really? Did you do the work?
D - Actually, yes I did, I was the one that fixed the car.
M - OK, explain to me how you vacuumed water out of the intercoolers on her car WHEN HER CAR IS A FUCKING NA!!!
D - What do you mean?
M - NA, as in Naturally Aspirated, non turbo, no boost!
D - No, you must be mistaken, it took me over an hour to do it.
M - Get your manager on the phone now! Couldn't believe it...I went to the shop, found who I spoke with, and took them out there to show them the engine bay and its lack of boost hoses, lack of HICAS gear, lack of adjustable suspension, lack of boost gauge, and then kindly asked him to point out the intercoolers. He was dumbfounded.
