Cliff's notes: Took my car in to have front fascia and foglight replaced. 2 weeks later, upon picking my car up, I have a broken shifter, messed up steering, an unfixed body problem (hood seam) and an empty pack of cigarettes in my trunk. This was done through my insurance with my $1000 deductible. Need advice on how to handle this situation. Some of you may recall my post from about 2 weeks ago when I rear-ended someone. Well, after paying my $1000 deductible and paying for a rental for two weeks, I got my car back. The hood is still sticking up in the drivers side front corner, which I pointed out to the manager the morning I brought the car in. They installed my fascia unevenly and sits higher on the passenger side of the car, as you can see in the bottom picture. My shifter is BROKEN. It's not the bushing, the support bracket is busted. I have to actually hold the shifter UP while driving because it sinks into the console by about an inch and a half. The two top pics show the shifter in neutral with it sitting in its rest position (sunken in) and then me pulling it straight up to where it should be sitting. My steering is fucked up as well. The wheel turns to the right just fine, but when its turned to the left, there is more resistance and feels like its hitting some kind of obstruction while rotating - it's hard to describe. Imagine rolling an octangonal tube on a flat surface, that's what it feels like. And the icing on the cake... there was an empty pack of Newports in my trunk. Yes, I smoke.... but NOT newports. Naturally, the body shop wants nothing to do with me now. Soooo, I called my mechanic at the Z shop here in Miami to have my car brought there to look at the mechanical problems. My car had ZERO mechanical problems when I brought it to the body shop. My insurance (progressive) is also telling me that the shifter is has nothing to do with the body shop. So I have to rent a car again, and be w/o my Z for God knows how long.... all at my expense. This is causing me to lose my job. I'm going to go cry now. Thanks for reading and any input or advice you can give would be MUCH appreciated.
