I took an old parcel tray (thanks again Russell), cut out the part that is sunk in, and flipped it over. I then had to put some spacers in to get enough clearance for the amps, fiber glassed around it then sanded and sanded and sanded and sanded. I then cut the top out and laid a piece of fiber board in that was slightly larger then the opening so the new top had something to set on. Made the new top out of some stiff mesh found at the local hardware store so the amps could breath a little better. After that I glued on the carpet and had a local shop make a new rear carpet piece out of the same carpet so it would match. (sheesh, that’s a lot of carpet) As for the detailing in the top, I just cut out some 1\8” fiberboard and glued it to the mesh. Auto upholstery shops will have the carpet you need that is flexible enough to go around all of the edges. This is the only pic I can find of it uncarpeted.
As for making another and a lenghty write up I'm just not going to have enough time. We have our first little one on the way and between getting the baby's room ready, work and already planned activities, the schedule is full for another couple months. Hope this helps spark some ideas though.
