Message Ok so I'm a z nut just like most of you on this board
I just spent the last 2hrs sitting in my garage with my 300zx just thinking of Shi! to do with my car.
First thing I noticed is I my garage feels like I'm in a sauna. 2nd is I had a bit left of of my beer so I lnow I'm going to be here a while...=) so mind my words if I stutter a bit LOL

Anyway, so I'm thinking I have a koyo radiator which seems to work well but how come my garage is a sauna????

Well since I have more than half a brew left I thought I would investigate this... So I pull the center pnl where the emblem is and I prop the hood open with the prop rod and I start taking some temp measurements..

Well this is what I came up with..

1) There is no heat release from the engine area when the car sits...

Maybe air guides are cool when the car is being driven but for gods sake I dont think there any good when the car sits. It just keeps the hot air inside the engine area..

2) This thing need a vented hood...
would a front vented cood be best or a cowl induction??
Well let me tell you if your out crusing the town the a front mount would be cool cause it causes the air to be pulled from the radiator area where the heated engine water constantly is flowing through the radiator.. but when the car sits the radiator and engine off the water is not flowing thus the radiator is probably the coolest thing of the engine area..

Now a Question poises is it better to vent when the engine is running or stopped this I do not know...

Which points at another item get a vented hood in the front or the rear??

sorry if I'm rambling(my beer is all gone)

After testing engine area temps, I feel that the rear vented would be much mor efficiant than the front. Why you might ask?? Mainly because it helps cool the engine and not just the radiatoe or water withing the radiator..Which just so happened to be the coolest part of the engine area when I checked the temp...

Would it be better to go with a vented hood fornt or rear vesus the koyo I do not know.. I'm planning to do some test to see the difference in engine temps durring cool down, driving speeds etc..

Does anyone have any other suggestion on what I should test for??
Ie
Vented hoods with Koyo radiator versus stock
Koyo versus stock
Vented hood versus Vented Hood ( Rear cowl vent versus front vent)

Ok venting done.. =)
