Message to repair. I've been through several floods in Louisiana and I can tell you from experience that the carpet is not your only worry. Water has been soaked into the dry wall and insulation - even if you can't see it. Once mildew sets in its going to stink!!! In order to repair the damaged wall board and insulation will have to be removed. The remaining mildew will have to be treated and the wall repaired.

You may be able to clean the carpet, but the padding will midew unless you get all of the excess water out - if you have a wet/dry vac, use it asap.
