Calling the police was way crazy on ur part. If the guy returned and u knew for sure that the z wasent there and he took it then u had all the right to deal with the situation at that point. Even if the car was stolen it would have been there fault and would have to pay for the car. On the other hand.... If that car was to be finished in one week and it took them 1+ months then theres surely a problem. I dont think u had the right to go on the premises and snoop around though. Even so, Ur best bet would have been...... Wait for him to open up the store. If ur car was not present with the owner there, then u would have had the opportunity to deal with the situation. What u did was jump to conclusions and thought the worst case scenario. In ur head, ur car was lost for good or u wouldn't have done what u did. I wouldn't worry about it. Just pay the guy for the work (assuming the job was done correctly) and never return to him mainly cause his work took way longer than he told u and thats not professional.
