I have also been wanting to try out the Tomei Cams.. Here is a few things for you consider Solid lifters will weigh less that hydrolic lifter. The solid lifter will not collapse at higher rev levels where it gets into oil starvation. So if you want an 8500RPM thats the way to go. In reference the Skyline GT-S uses an RB25 motor with hydrolic lifters and has a 7000 RPM redline stock. However the Skyline GTR uses solid lifters and has an 8000 RPM redline stock. You can make your own conclusions but remember the RB26 is just an enchanced version of the RB25. The solid lifters also requires you to use shim. People don't like shims because they wear down and after a while you are required to reshim the cam. This the specific advantage of hydrolic lifters. But keep in mind that Supra doesn't have hydrolic lifters either... Lift and durations numbers and theories? Well the kind of complicated but the idea of very a high lift is to allow as much air as possible to enter the exhaust valves and stay opened further out during the rotation. The duration is simply how long valve stays open. Alot of people who work on cams and etc look for the area under the lobes and try to match the cams to flow charestics which best feed the application. No one cam is perfect.
