the key is to pay your balance in full on time each month and then you can get the occasional late fee waived (provided, of course, that your annual charge volume is high enough). MBNA's service isn't the greatest, but it's not the worst. In terms of quality of svc, I'd stick with the bank-issued cards (citi, chase, etc.) as banks care more about their reputation and possibly getting bad press than local papers. BTW, to get the fees waived, simply write a letter to the chairman of the company along with whatever details you have to support your claim that the fees are unfounded. If your credit rating is good (FICO >680/700) and if the amount in dispute is small expect that they'll waive the fees without much fuss- it's far cheaper for them to do that than to deal with you in small claims court. The reason this works is that letters to the chairman, CEO, etc. follow a different process for handling that is top-down rather than bottoms-up through customer service (which, as you've probably found out, gets you nowhere fast). If you want more details, feel free to drop me an email. Enjoy your saved money!
