Message About a week and a half ago, my Z began running on 5 cylinders and smoke. I isolated it to the #4 cylinder (middle on the driver's side). It's not the plugs or coil packs. I don't have the tools to check the injector. And if it is an injector, I don't trust myself or have the time to pull the plenum and change it. I want to take it to a mechanic, find out what's wrong, and either fix it myself or get it fixed (depending on what it is).
Just curious as to what you guys would recommend - take it to Nissan and have them check it out, or take it to a different mechanic (like an Auto Europe or something like that)? I've heard that Nissan overcharges, but I would think that they know their own cars and have the diagnostic equipment to find the problem that other mechanics wouldn't have, no? If not Nissan, would a place like Auto Europe be trustworthy? I know our cars are Japanese, but a place like that is used to working with anal owners like myself and knows high performance cars (mainly turbo systems).
Any recommendations or comments are appreciated! Thanks.
