Better to make up for that greater surfaces they take. Those stock TT slots are designed for that stock intercooler and bigger will work but your taking away from what chip said, surface area to air flow. FMIC are designed this very same way or they would not be as efficient and create more lag from oncoming air forces. So the surface area exposed is really less of the factor when the vents are better design to move air threw it, because all 7 and 8 second cars are running them as we know and lag would be and issue in there case as well. I often use to look at them and think that, they look like a wall of UN-aerodynamic creation, until you really read on them and see them with your own eyes and see that air really has no problem passing threw them. The side mounts are no different in the design, just made for stock replacement locations. But they need more surface area then stock design. Greddy has a better chance of being able to adapt to it for design ( lower and thicker ). But those ducts as we all know force air in a tunnel threw a better flowing IC and nothing but gains come from that............ :)
STAGE V++++ Going to XIII and beyond :) |
