Message before using it. If it was scratched, he needed to point that out before he put it on his car. By installing it and using it he accepts that he cannot return it based on a scratch (or any defect found at delivery) because it would appear to anyone that the scratch was probably not there before installation. Otherwise the guy is a f*cking moron and didn't inspect it when he got it.

There isn't an analogous situation I can compare this to, but it could be concieved that the scratch would be like the hood coming in two pieces. If it were obviously flawed, it needs to be returned at that moment, do not pass installation, collect a new part.

I think what really happened is he install the hood which was not defected and drove around for a while and something happened to his brand new hood and he got all bent, as most people would. But then instead of keeping his cool and just saying that it had a defect on delivery, he got his story all screwed up and realized his error, then got all hell bent on making it someone elses fault. Fuck him, its his scratch.

: I'm not going to, but I was curious as to what everyone else thought.

: I sold a Carbon Fiber Hood to a member of this board by the name of James Gore. He accepted delivery of this hood, and said that it "looked good under flourescent light" or something like that. He then proceeded to install the hood on his car and drive around town at "60mph". He then emailed me and said that the hood was inperfect and that he wanted a full refund.

: James had access to a digital camera so I asked if maybe I could see some pictures of the "imperfection" he sent me one and it took a while for me to see what he was talking about. It looked like the hood had been scratched or rubbed up against or something. So I suggested that he might file a claim with the shipping company because perhaps it was damaged during transit. He then proceeded to accuse me of trying to get him to lie to the shipping company! And threatened to send a letter to the BBB flaming us and the makers of the hoods (MB Autosport made the hoods for us and shipped out some of them as well) if he did not get his demanded full refund.

: His email was also insulting, he thought we were crazy for asking to see the pictures of "imperfections" in the product and just wanted us to send him a full refund(?) Does he think we are crazy? Does he think that threatening is the best way to get a refund? We have an excellent customer service record, we have dealt with many damaged shipments and other customer service issues very quickly and successfully, we love doing business with Z owners because they are usually cool and collected individuals. I'm sorry if this makes us look bad in your eyes but we will not be refunding his money because:

: 1. He accepted the hood from the shipping company without inspecting it (or did he?)

: 2. He installed the hood on his car and proceeded to drive around town with it on there.

: 3. We inspected all hoods for quality before they went out and found nothing wrong with his before it was shipped.

: 4. He threatened me with "a gleaming letter to the BB" and "a post on TT.net", probably not realizing that I'm the one who controls the refund policy.

: 5. He insulted us in his immature emails when we were nothing but professional in dealing with him.

: Would Wing's West take back a body kit after you had installed it and driven around town with it on your car? Would you accept a turbo kit back from someone after they had installed it on their car and drove around? Do you think Volk would accept your rims back and give you a full refund after you had mounted them and driven around town?

: The bottom line is that we probably would have taken it back if he had not installed it on his vehicle, and if he had not tried to threaten us before even seeing the outcome.
