Message as one of my guests who's here for the Z convention just
said "shit...the whole internet is fucking stupid i wouldn't
worry about him" good advice...but..

the issues you're so desperately seaking to have a big
conversation on have been beaten around a lot. This is why
nobody else is chiming in. There's nothing new to talk
about...it's all out there. Rod bearings, weak cooling
systems, shitty manifolds, critical electronics that crap
out.

No, I'm no mind reader that's why I asked you a legitimate
question about who you were referring to. More than 2
austin Z people have doubted me and slammed me in the past
only to have it slammed back in their face hard. This is
why I asked before I made an assumption (did that once too
and it sucked). If that wasn't a reference to anybody in
particular say "no rich...you're a paranoid freak" and
that's that.

As for why I don't want to build a 650rwhp car, come to the
shop Tuesday morning and I'll show you a few examples of
why that's not a goal and then we'll also talk about road
racing and how it's more entertaining to me than going 190mph
down 183 while trying to outrun a Supra. I'm also serious
about my plans to eventually build a RB25 powered Z31 and
come out to school everyone in Austin....my time frame on
that is 5 years so I'm in no rush. Getting my Z32TT to
mint condition and building it to a comfortable yet track
worthy weekend car is more of a priority as is getting a E36
M3. I don't feel compelled to have that much power at the
moment...you have the bug...I don't. I've already been
busted for 125+ once and I don't really want to push my
luck. : )

I really think you're blowing my "attitude" way out of
proportion. Take my opinion of the Z's motor being not
the world's greatest and decide for yourself that it is my
opinion and you don't have to agree with it. When you ask
me why I think that and I reiterate what's been here for
years then that's the answer I have for you. There's not
many other magical items out there that haven't been found
yet.

Take the fact that 650rwhp will impress me if it runs reliably
for what it is....An appreciation of what I think is a good
goal. As I've said already, if you surpass that goal then
I'll be even happier for you. Kyle says he can build it to
last and I hope it does, I'm not joking. There's no "diss"
"slam", taunt, tongue-in-cheek bs or anything in that.

Also, the whole "rich doesn't think a VG can run 700rwhp
reliably" is simple minded. There are a number of engines
that can't (2JZ included...but I think it's a little better).
Just so you know, most informed people will agree that
horsepower levels in that area are simply going to be more
prone to cause catastrophic failures. When I say reliable
I'm talking, drive it to/from work on 110 degree days for
years without having to do any serious work.

I'm literally tired (too much celebrating) and am tired
of this conversation as a whole. I bear you no ill will
and wish you well and I'm going to extend a hand of friend-
ship and ask that we begin this conversation again and
make sure there are no assumptions or preconceived notions.

Maybe at some point we can sit down over a drink and we can
talk about motors, turbos, and I'll explain my twisted logic
that keeps confusing people.
