The 2jz seems to be an engine capable of taking more in the stock form, but the vg seems like a much more powerful engine when on the same level as the 2jz. For example, an NA Z will beat an NA Supra. Most of the power from the supra, comes from it's ability to run insane amounts of boost with no internal work. Add to that an engine bay more suitable to big turbos, you've got a nice recipe there. Another example is that a lot of TTZ owners upgrade their turbos to only the same size as the Supra stocks. I'm not sure if it's a JWT turbo or a T-28 that is about the same size as a stock Supra turbo. And those Z's running that size turbo end up making in some cases up to 550rwhp, more than the Supra can get off the stockers. And does one engine format necessarily make more power than another? ie a v-type engine is better than an inline, or vice-versa
