Most anything is doable. It's just a matter of a) desire and b) time. Actually, probably more like A) time and B) desire. LOL Busting up the for sale section to have different categories doesn't make much sense based on the way people use the forum. I mean, sure, you'd think if you see CARS FOR SALE you'd post there if you had a car for sale, but as we all know, people post crap for sale in the General & Technical forums because they don't realize CLASSIFIEDS means CLASSIFIEDS. Therefore, even if we broke it up more I would doubt that people would voluntarily put stuff in the right place so it sorta defeats the purpose. A group buy section might be kind of interesting but I would need to modify stuff to support both the classifieds functions (i.e. FS only or Wanted only viewing) as well as the Events style stuff (specifying and viewing by an event date) which doesn't occur right now. I'll keep it in mind though and see if I can come up with anything. Anything Goes forum - doubtful. We have enough bandwidth issues and posting from day to day as it is without specifically inviting a free-for-all. Today we average about 850 - 1,000 messages posted PER DAY. Can you imagine what would happen if we had a forum that was for anything at all and wasn't moderated??? Shudder. Scary, huh? LOL Posting your own Profile Pics This is doable, but we don't do it for a reason. We like to maintain a sense of order and consistency in the rides pages. We are not a web page hosting service and don't want to be, which is what would occur if we allowed that. Plus, people are sneaky enough WITHOUT us inviting custom HTML code to be placed on the website. We also don't have the personal bandwidth (i.e. time) to go riding herd over the pages to make sure people are being nice and not posting porn or other offensive material in there. Yeah, I know 99% of the people wouldn't do it, but that 1% makes life a pain in the ass. We're spending most of our time (what little there is of it) trying to get 350zforum split apart from tt.NET effectively so it can be launched and take off hopefully like tt.NET has. Also, I've got a few new pieces of functionality planned in the future that would take precedence over these things anyway. (Trust me, you'll like'em :-)
Thanks for the suggestions. I definitely take these ideas seriously and will try to implement what makes sense.
