One of the differences that I noticed between the 2 is that the techtom cuts ignition instead of fuel in order to cut power. If you also notice on techtom's description they say it should not be used on cars with cats. I think the reason being is, you'll have unburnt raw fuel being dumped onto the cats when the ignition is cut. 6 cylinders of raw fuel on hot cats does not make for a good mix. At least on the racelogic system the fuel is being cut and you are just getting a dry fire in the cylinder. While the techtom is considerably cheaper, I don't think that it is the preferred method of cutting power. As far as usefulness of the MDM-100 here are a few things I could think of. 1) You can check the exact temp of the coolant so as to prevent overheating the car. 2) You want to run more boost but aren't sure if you've got the fuel to do it. You can check your injector duty cycle to see if they are maxed. 3) You are at the track and you want to advance/retard your timing with the CAS. You can check the timing without a timing light. 4) You are getting crappy gas mileage. You can check the O2 sensor voltage to see if they are shot. 5) Finally, You are on the dyno and you want to know the temp of the intake charge. Well by golly you can check it.Hope this helps some people out on questions they may have or thinking about whether or not the techtom is worth it.
