Long story shortened...5 months of build-up, underperformance, slow diagnostics, and just plain problems.
HKS GT turbos, 555's, etc.---only getting 12 psi boost, with pinging nonetheless !!
After taking it to Greg Dupree @Specialty Z for a ground zero restart on diagnostics, the culprit was found.......
Twas the friggen CATS !! After he removed the exhaust, the turbos boosted to 20psi+. The new turbos just flow too much exhaust and the cats were clogged, preventing boost-up.So the main cats were gutted, and since it had pinged before
we put race gas in and it boosted a steady 24psi.
Car was scary fast...he drove, I held the door handle !!
As Wolf would say, "Whoo-fuckin-whoo !!"
At least all that money didn't go to waste :-)
