so i'm having this alternator problem. I'm on my crappy spare but it works (loud as hell though, rod bearing in the damn thing is dry). I got this note from a HS kid that saw my Z on the driveway for some time. He wanted to buy my Z. I met him when i was working on my alternator the other day. I gave him the best advice ever about buying a car: Just because you can afford the car, doesn't mean you can afford the maintainance. $7 an hour?? I make that much taking a crap where i work (yes, i need to more fiber in my diet). Get a beater; best is a early 90ish American car. Cheap parts and easy fix. Think of it this way: just say you find a Z (i see you want a TT). Pop charger (just a K&N cone filter) for ~$90. Do you know that Neon's pop charger is only $30 at most! Oh, you want an ECU: $535ish.. Neon, $120 on the board somewhere. Do you see where i'm going with this.. get a Neon. Fun car to race and cheap to upgrade. Easy to work on too! I say Neon instead of a Civic or Sentra is because the "Rice" world, they jack up the price just by saying it's from Japan.. like no shit it's from Japan but price gauging is not my cup of tea. Get an American car for now. Have fun beating the shit out of it and learn how to fix a car properly then get a Z. Then you'll know what it means to be a master mechanic. :-)
