Oh, I live there too. When my motorcycle (suzuki xn85) was stolen years ago, they asked the same questions. Even asked the mileage, and when's the last time I had it to a shop, and which shop. Sounds like it's pretty common for *friends* to steal cars. I bet there are a ton of ex-wifes, ex-husbands, ex-girlfriends, and ex-boyfriends with keys, that take off with cars. The 16 year old son of a coworker had his Civiv *stolen*, and he wasn't too upset. They found the car, partially stripped. Again, he wasn't so worried, he figured his insurance would fix it. NOPE, he didn't have theft coverage. And to make it worse, he staged the whole thing. He's at a boy's ranch now.
