The thing is though I was seeing all these guys just putting $2 home made manual boost controllers on and knocking out the cats to run low 13s and I was thinking they're gonna lean it out, blow it up, and fry their turbo. When I started tuning mine with the EGT and A/F and threw it on a dyno once I learned otherwise. You can crank the boost for all the turbo will hold without modifying anything and what will happen is you're fuel mixture will actually be a lil more rich through the whole powerband than stock. Not a HINT of detonation. The wastgate spring only allows so much boost, and if they were to toast a turbo(which I haven't really been seeing happening much at all), you can find em for <$400 and it's just a few hour job with basic tools. They really are kinda idiot proof in a way. Of course the guys with nitrous like any car are risking more without experience. I've been pretty easy on mine, I just hit it onto curved onramps cause it sticks and pulls really well. I think Subaru really got this thing right in the performance, practicality, cost, and dependability categories. Considering selling mine.
